SUMMARY |
Inspired by Shinkansen engineering, a child’s dream to ride the bullet train blossomed into a career goal. Despite challenges during the pandemic, a senior’s success reignited hope. With AJMMC’s help, the dreamer sharpened their Japanese and connected with companies. After several attempts, they landed a job in Japan. Now, they’re excited to work as an engineer, send money home, and finally experience the thrill of the Shinkansen firsthand. |
My Childhood Dream was to Ride the Bullet Train
I remember my awe when I learned about the Japanese bullet train. When I learned about bullet train technology through a teacher in grade school, the dream of one day riding the bullet train was planted in my heart.
My career dream: to take part in a project as inspiring as Impressive as Japan’s Bullet Trains
When thinking about the path I should take, I had two possible career directions. At first, I was inspired by my brother, a seaman, but he told me the realities of seafaring. Despite the high pay, the hazards, the isolation, and job insecurity were extremely problematic. Thankfully, when I met a smart, cool senior working as an engineer, I was inspired in that direction instead. As I thought about the possibilities of being an engineer, I began to imagine impacting society just as much as those bullet train engineers did.
2020: Life Stood Still Until Inspiration Came Along
In 2020, while studying Mechanical Engineering at West Yangon Technological University, the pandemic ravaged the world. At the same time, my country also experienced major events that affected many Myanmar students. Like many others, my university years were stretched for far, far longer than expected.
It was a bleak time. I felt like my future was taken away from me. Life stood still, with no way to get it to move again. I thought the only way to escape this frozen state was to go overseas. Perhaps there was a better life in Singapore, Thailand—or anywhere else. Of course, I wanted to go to Japan, but at that time, anywhere seemed better.
Then, one day in 2023, as I was doom-scrolling on Facebook, I chanced upon inspiration.
A Senior’s Success in Japan Through AJMMC Sparked Hope
From the rubble of everything going around in the world and in my country, I saw an engineering senior of mine rise from the ashes. They posted about how the Association of Japan-Myanmar Mutual Cooperation (AJMMC) helped them find a job opportunity in Japan. My dream came back to life. There was a clear path how to work in Japan as a Myanmar talent!
I started dreaming again. I could be the engineer I dreamed I could be in Japan—a land ripe with opportunity and advanced technology. So, with my senior’s direction, I hurriedly went to AJMMC. My life had purpose again.
I sharpened my Japanese with AJMMC’s help. They also connected me to FAST OFFER International. Despite that extremely hectic season of my life, trying to graduate, working part-time, and studying Japanese, I was driven. I imagined one day riding that bullet train, living as an expat engineer in Japan. I imagined my life going forward again, as fast as a bullet train could take me.

A Step Closer to My Dream with FAST OFFER International
Through FAST OFFER International, I connected with 6 companies. I failed the first four companies spectacularly, but I never stopped trying. On the 5th company, I finally felt like I was learning and improving. The experience was truly the best teacher! Even though I failed with that 5th company, it gave me hope.
My joy went through the roof when I got a job offer from the sixth company. I exclaimed so loudly my concerned aunt came rushing into my room. I was so happy! My dream was going to come true! There was hope for a better life.
Ceasing My Opportunity to Work in Japan and Experience Bullet Trains!
When I get to Japan, I’ll do my best as an engineer! I’m excited to learn as much as I can along the way. This opportunity would also allow me to send money back home. Most of all though, I can’t wait to experience the bullet train’s powerful design buzzing right under my feet.
FAST OFFER CAREER GUIDE: 4 Reasons Japanese Bullet Train Technology Has Inspired Engineers
So many of FAST OFFER International’s successful stories mention the bullet train: whether it was a highlight to their trip to Japan or the very reason they decided to work in Japan. This engineering marvel blazed a trail and showed people how far and how fast public transportation can go. Japan’s bullet trains are a testament to their commitment to safety, punctuality, and innovation for the benefit of all of Japan.
Pioneering Speed and Efficiency
Japanese bullet trains, or Shinkansen, are renowned for their incredible speed and punctuality. Introduced in 1964, they revolutionized rail travel by consistently achieving speeds over 200 mph, setting a global standard for high-speed rail[1].
Advanced Safety Features
Shinkansen trains are equipped with cutting-edge safety technologies, including earthquake detection systems and automatic braking. These innovations have made them one of the safest modes of transportation worldwide[2].
Environmental Impact
The energy-efficient design of Shinkansen trains minimizes carbon emissions, making them an eco-friendly alternative to air travel. This focus on sustainability has inspired engineers to prioritize green technologies in transportation[3].
Global Influence
The success of the Shinkansen has inspired high-speed rail projects in countries like China, France, and the United States. Its engineering excellence continues to shape the future of rail travel globally[1]
