I spent five formative years in Japan when my parents were in grad school. When I started preschool, I couldn’t speak a word of Japanese. Since I was young, it was natural to learn the language. So, by grade school, I’d become fluent, and life was so much easier. As I got older, thanks to Yuru Nihongo with Aya, I reached the N1 level. Having fluent Japanese was key later to how I landed Four interview opportunities with Japanese companies.

My Four Interviews with Japanese Companies: Online and Offline Wawancara dengan Perusahaan Jepang: Online dan Offline
Two of the interviews would be online. The other two would be conducted in Japan through FAST OFFER’s monthly free job interview events. Before the interviews took place, I did my company research and had mock interview sessions with my career advisor.
The mock interviews were such a vital part of my job hunt. My advisor helped me improve my answers and taught me how to be more insightful. Those sessions also helped get used to the interview format and understand the mindset of Japanese companies. That preparation with them really filled me with confidence, and I wasn’t at all nervous.
Wawancara simulasi merupakan bagian penting dalam pencarian kerja saya. Penasihat saya membantu saya memperbaiki jawaban dan mengajari saya cara menjadi lebih berwawasan. Starting a New Chapter in Japan After Landing a Job in Tech | | Memulai Babak Baru di Jepang Setelah Mendapatkan Pekerjaan di Bidang Teknologi
My life is about to change, which I’m sure will be both rewarding and challenging. For the first time, I will be living on my own and away from my family. I’ll have to find my community in Japan. Perhaps it will be through Vanguard, a Japanese card game I love playing with my friends. I’m curious about finding more friends to play it with in Japan. Imagining the highs and lows of that new independence is something I’m really excited about.
Membayangkan suka duka kemerdekaan baru itu adalah sesuatu yang sangat saya nanti-nantikan.
