A year into the pandemic, one of the biggest challenges we all faced collectively was that of uncertainty. I was in my fourth semester of engineering, and the future had never been as unclear as then.
I thank all my lucky stars because it was during this time that I stumbled upon the Fast Offer International program. I knew intuitively that I had to sign up for it.
Twelve months into the journey, for all its exhilarating highs and tear-jerking lows, I was in love with learning Japanese. It gave me something to focus on, something to look forward to. It gave me the purpose I was looking for.
Just as I began my N3 level, I was eligible for the interview process. Fraught with nerves, but with a heart full of determination, I began preparing to give my level best and land a job in Japan. Right now, I can say that “I’ve made it! I have my dream job.” But back then, all I could rely on was hope and faith.
After successfully passing the screening with Asia to Japan, I had to make a short PR video and submit a few essays. Time was limited, and me being camera shy did not help. Nevertheless, a sleepless night and losing my voice eventually did not matter, because I had finally filmed the video and uploaded my documents.
I quickly learnt that the video would not be the last of my challenges. In the next four months, I was not shortlisted by a single company. My perseverance and patience ー both were tested like never before.
After continuously affirming the mantra that “Good things take a little time”, and perpetual motivation from my mother, I was finally shortlisted by two companies. I remember almost tearing up after reading that email and seeing the changes on my FOI profile.
Human nature is baffling at times. After a few hours, the initial happiness withered away and my anxiety reared its head. A small voice in my head said, “Wasn’t it better before? At least when you’re not shortlisted, you don’t have to worry about messing up the interview.”
However, letting the fear of failure control me was not an option. I ignored the voice and started preparing. I was assigned mentors for the respective companies and they were literally Godsent. The entire credit for my staying sane and positive during the whole process goes to them.
On the final results day, the first email that I received was of rejection. One of the two companies I appeared for had not selected me. My spirits were a little low, but I still clung to hope and prayed for the best. After hours that felt like years, I received the email for the second company, and I had made it! For me, that email was like an oasis in the desert. Like blissful warmth on a chilly winter evening. I will forever cherish that moment. It felt like I was finally reaping the fruits of my labor.
What started with just simply learning a language, evolved into a journey of self-discovery, character strengthening, and becoming resilient. The motive behind my sharing this is simply to inspire somebody to make that leap of faith. Like so many others, my story is also a testimony to the fact that at the end of an uncertain, tumultuous road lies victory. If I could, you can too!
With a heart full of gratitude, I thank God, my family, my Japanese teachers, my mentors, my seniors, my friends, the entire Asia to Japan team, and everybody who has supported me in this amazing journey. I cannot wait to begin this new chapter of my life and see what the future holds for me!
• 卒業プロジェクト：
私はインドのプネ大学でコンピューターサイエンス工学の4年生です。ちょうど卒業プロジェクトを始めたばかりです。プロジェクトの話題はブロックチェーン技術でピアツーピアライドシェアリングです。先週、プロジェクトのテーマは大学の教授方によって承認していただきました。
ガソリンの価格は非常に高く、電気自動車は高価です。最も効率的でコストを節約する方法は、公共交通機関を利用することです。しかし、多くの人がまだインドで車を使いたいと思っています。彼らは公共交通機関を利用するのが好きではありません。 その場合は、ライドシェアリングが一番効率的です。

このシステムはブロックチェーンとスマートコントラクトを活用し、より良いプライバシーとセキュリティのためにウバーのように分散バージョンのアプリケーションを作ることが目的です。私はこのトピックについてグループメンバーと一緒にもっと研究し、まもなくこのウェブアプリケーションのコーディングとデザインを開始します。このプロジェクトにおける私の役割は、ウェブサイトをデザインし、リアクトのフレームワークを使用してフロントエンドをコーディングすることです。
• 3年目のミニプロジェクト：
私の3年生のミニプロジェクトのタイトルは、フードオーダーのウェブサイトでした。それは昨年完成しました。
このプロジェクトでは、PHP言語とMySQLデータベースを使用して、フードオーダーリングプロセスを簡素化するオンラインフードオーダーウェブサイトを提案しました。
ゾマトのようなインドの食品注文アプリケーションは、注文を受けているレストランから一定の手数料を請求します。レストランがサードパーティ製のアプリで価格を上げるのはよくあることです。多くの人がレストランに行って待つことを好みます。 しかし、それは時間のかかる作業です。
提案されたシステムの目的は、ホテルのフードオーダープロセスの活動とパフォーマンスを強化します。 利用者が直接レストランに注文を入れられます。 管理者は、注文とユーザーをリアルタイムで追跡することもできます。
このアプリを作成した時、まずはグループメンバーと文献調査を始めました。既存のシステムとその問題、および提案されたシステムに関するいくつかの研究論文を参照しました。
その後、ウェブサイトをデザインし、フロントエンドとバックエンドをコーディングしました。このミニプロジェクトはバックエンドにはPHP言語と、データベースにはMySQLを使用してコード化されています。
バックエンドとフロントエンドを統合した後、テストケースを実行し、Webサイトが正常に動作しているかどうかを確認しました。
私のグループはフードオーダーののためのフルスタックウェブサイトを作成することに成功しました。
私たちがこのウェブサイトをコーディングしていたとき、私のグループメンバーの誰もPHPを知りませんでした。 それは新しい言語でした。 使用する前にまず学ばなければなりませんでした。 そのため、ウェブサイトはシンプルで、あまり複雑な機能を持たないようになりました。でも、私とチームメンバーはみんなでPHPを学び、それを実装するのが楽しかったです。
